Day 199

Wow, really? It does not feel like I have been out of school this long. But I do have to start paying back loans now, so yeah, it makes sense. Bah. I am getting a good amount of reading in. I missed it. Next on my list is to reread To Kill a Mockingbird. And then I can read Harper Lee’s other book. Ha! That’s the way to do it; write one amazing book, and then 55 years later publish your second. If only I was that good.

I am good enough to be in the CCAD Art Fair, selling stuff. I will be selling some of my boxes from last semester, some pottery, and some stemless wineglasses with the state of Ohio sandblasted into them. Who doesn’t like wine? Mmmm.

I’m still making. Can’t seem to stop. Even if it is just little things around the house. Like Christmas stockings, bookcases, a firewood bin, and Ohio stickers. (long live the Oxford comma!) I’m also making a stop-motion puppet that I started last semester for a animation class that I was taking with Tracy Robbins. He’s halfway done at the moment. Looks a bit like a skinny gray alien version of the Iron Giant with a top hat. Pictures when he’s finished.

I did see Thom’s work that’s hanging in the Urban Scrawl Gallery. Fantastic. Go see it. Now.

I’m going to go make something. Coffee, probably.

Day 602

It’s almost over and done with. The show has been up for three weeks, my oral defense went well (and Nicole came up with a new term for what I do: a ceramic behavioralist. Haha! )Malcolm also mentioned that before I pack everything away, that I rearrange the arrangement of the boxes and see how far I can push them as sculptures inisisting that they are fragile. I should also send a notice to Columbus Alive that they miss-represented my work. They are not metal, dammit. But that was kind of the point. I’m working on my paper and animations. I’m going to try and get into festivals as well as galleries. We’ll see. I did not get into Ohio Shorts. Blah. There are a few more that I will apply to, thanks to Tracy’s http://noentryfeefestivals.com/ blog. And pictures as promised.

Day 248

This is what I put together for the animation class that I am auditing. I’m not sure about the transitions. I both like and dislike them. Helpful, I know. And this is me experimenting with AfterEffects. We’ll see if i can get my computer to blow up before the end of the semester. I’m enjoying the animation process. And the lack of a long narrative.

Day 184

This is what I’ve been doing for my animation class. I’m still learning dragonframe and this is the first time I’ve added in audio. It’s a work in progress. I want to make more of these. But I will stick with 3D. Don’t worry, I haven’t gone off the deep end, but I have been corrupted. HAHAHA!

And a quote of the day: “I should be on medication, I’m sure.”

Day 175

This is the beginnings of the stop-motion animation for my experimental animation class. I’m having fun. It’s been a while since I’ve gotten to use scissors on a project. Hahaha. I’m obviously not finished with this, but at least it’s a start. Someday, if I’m still animating, which I hope to be, I would love to get a better camera. One that has live-view would make everything just a little easier. Oh well. Enjoy.
